Asian Studies

Asian Studies Austin College introduces students to different aspects of Asian societies and cultures through multidisciplinary study. Students develop an appreciation for diversity as well as a sense of themselves and western culture in the larger world through examination of the many cultures of Asia. Asian countries play increasingly important roles in the modern world, and Asian civilizations dominated the ancient world as well. The number of Asian immigrants to the United States is also rising. It is becoming more important for Americans to learn about Asian culture and society. The Asian Studies program promotes a larger awareness of Asia and its role in the world through its curriculum and special events.
