| Artist Statement My passion for horses has been a lifelong journey as art has entered in portraying these beautiful animals. Since a child I have marveled over anything and everything about horses. As life has changed so has my expression of my passion. A lot like horseback riding, many only see what happens in the bright lights, in front of the audience, in the arena. My inspiration lies within the behind the scenes of my passions. Within Art whether it be in performing in an arena on horseback or even in showcasing my drawings and paintings there have been relics of lessons that horses have taught me. In completing this artwork in the last semester of college I have experienced challenges of self and commitment. These lessons I am very familiar with from the long nights spent in the arena. Advice given from horsemen along the way haunts me as I end my undergrad, only to my benefit they never waver in any area of my life. In my work, I have chosen some titles as a remembrance to those words of my mentors. I hope to continue with the dreams that I have carried from childhood. Art has become its own form of a safe place for me. It allows me to daydream about what makes me happy and never lets me forget to run towards them. I encourage those who join me in showcasing these works to also remember your dreams. |
