Confronting Nightmares Artist Statement In a world where life isn’t easy, finding healthy outlets is crucial. For me, painting has always been a way to process emotions, cope with anxiety, and navigate life’s challenges. Each brushstroke represents a step in my healing, transforming experiences into something tangible. My art is a raw, unfiltered reflection of the struggles, pain, and darkness that have shaped my journey. Through acrylics and watercolors, I explore the complexities of human experience, exposing the often-hidden ugliness of life. I use a variety of reds, black, white, gray, deep blues, and purple. This color pallet represents the dark nature of the content and meaning of these paintings. For some works of art, I use original ideas; however, as I am sure you can tell, some of my pieces are my representations of famous horror Icons such as Pennywise from IT and Chucky from the Child’s Play franchise. My work may seem dark or unsettling, but beneath the surface lies profound emotion and meaning. This vulnerability is not just an expression of hardship but also a testament to healing and growth. Art has become my means of self-expression and a tool for mental, physical, and spiritual restoration. Through my work, I hope others see parts of their own stories reflected—acknowledging pain, anxiety, and the need for healing. If my art inspires even one person to seek help or embrace their journey, then I have fulfilled my purpose. In confronting darkness, I find the strength to move forward, evolve, and embrace who I am today. Parker Crowther |
