Baby Collection

     Baby Collector was a combination of the ceramic figures that I made in class and my favorite video game into trading cards.

     In the spring of 2024, I took an advanced ceramics class where students were essentially given free rein on what they wanted to create. And I decided to create small, simple figures for the rest of the semester.

     The Binding of Isaac (TBOI) is a rougelike video game where you play as a little boy who uses his tears to fight his way through his basement after escaping his mother's attempt to murder him. An aspect of TBOI is the visual changes that can happen to the player character when picking up certain items, which can range from mundane (Isaac wearing a wig or carrying a box of spiders) to scary (a spider that taken over Isaac's head and the "co-op babies" that you can unlock as you play through the game. The co-op babies come in many designs, which served as my main inspiration for these trading cards.

     Frankly, this display allows me to find a reason to just draw what I want and draw weird things. This is based on an idea of show casing my weird babies through a fake shopping pamphlet, but that soon changed into the more simple, and fun trading cards.
