Dr. Richard Neidhardt was the painting and art history professor at Austin College from 1967 to 1986. In his time here, one of Dick’s passions was taking students on Janterms abroad to study art. This scholarship fund was created by his family to honor his commitment to broadening the minds of students by making it possible for them to experience first hand the canonical art & architecture found outside of the US.
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
- declared art or art history major or art history minor
- senior or junior standing
- enrollment in a Janterm abroad with art as a major component (not exclusively an art faculty sponsored trip).
Priority will be given to a student on a trip with the primary focus to tour, travel to and visit major art centers, museums collections and/or significant architectural or cultural sites.
Janterms whose primary focus is not art will be considered as long as: a) the course will travel to major art centers, and b) touring museums and/or architectural or cultural sites is a significant component of the course.
This information will be verified through course description and itinerary.
Applications will be accepted annually in the first half of the fall semester. Exact deadlines will be emailed to all art students.
Send completed application forms to Sheila Weaver at sweaver@austincollege.edu or Suite 61608.
