Ms. Snipes joined the Biology Department in 1993 after six years at Sierra College in California. As a graduate student, she continued a lifetime's interest in birds by researching the metabolic responses of adult and nestling birds to changes in environmental conditions, such as temperature and wind speed. As a post-graduate researcher, she investigated such diverse topics as human plasma lipoproteins, DNA transformation and cloning, and body temperature regulation in both mammals and birds. Working with students, she has continued to study avian temperature regulation, bioenergetics, habitat utilization, and reproductive ecology of local populations.
