I specialize in contemporary Spanish poetry with an emphasis on
the 1980s generation. In my dissertation entitled Popular Culture in
Contemporary Spanish Poetry: From the Novísimos to the New Millennium, I
analyze works by poets such as Luis García Montero, Jon Juaristi, and Aurora
Luque. I also have a special interest in the relationship between Hispanic
literature and film.
I joined the Austin College faculty in August 2001. I received my Doctoral degree in Spanish Literature from the University of Kansas in 2002. I earned my M.A. in Spanish Literature at New York University in Madrid and my B.A. in Political Science/ Spanish from Texas A&M University in 1991.
