The main site for the Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio is a resource rich site. They offer several forms of programming and lesson opportunities for those educators who cannot bring their students to the Institute, in addition to activities and (samples included above) an extensive online photo archive. A non-circulating library is available to the public at the Institute. Included (the first link) is more information and very clear photos and sketches of de Leon family and artifacts, compiled and written by Caroline Castillo Crimm.

While the site is describing the flag of Victoria County, it is most important to pay attention to the embellished "E" in the center. It is same design was created and used by Martin de Leon for his cattle branding.

Not specific to Martin de Leon, but his creation of Victoria and his family certainly is part of the focus of the article, the changes that occurred along the Texas boarder with the division between Mexican and Anglo culture.
