This web page
(along with the pages reached from the link above)
offer an
index to a variety Texas history lesson plans that can be
found on a number of websites maintained by various organizations and
educational institutions.
These lesson planning sites were highlighted as the subject of
presentations made at the Texas Council for the Social Studies
Conference in El Paso,Texas on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at
1:45 p.m and on Sunday, October 21, 2007, at 8:30 a.m.

These presentations were based on work accomplished by a
faculty/student
collaborative effort as part of the Andrew
Mobley Project at Austin college. This project was sponsored by
the Department
of History, the
Austin Teacher Program, and the Center
for Southwestern and Mexican Studies at Austin College. It
was underwritten by a
grant from Humanities Texas.
One goal of this project was to survey the Internet in order to
assess the availability and utility of online Texas history lesson
plans that
might be used by fourth and seventh grade teachers. The faculty and
students involved in this project were particularly interested in
locating online lesson plans that were keyed to the TEKS and which
represented
high academic standards.
The presentation that follows on this website presents the results of
that research effort. In accessing the links to these sites, it should
be understood that the user of these links will be taken to various
servers and websites maintained by organizations other than Austin
College, which has no responsibility for what these sites contain.
Moreover, users will have to bookmark the Austin College link page of
this presentation, or use their brower's "back" function, if they wish
to return to these pages.
In addition to locating internet links to existing Texas history lesson
plan sites, the students and faculty members involved in this project
also created a special set of seventh grade lesson plans dealing with
the
individual contributions of Mexican-Americans who have made
a significant impact on Texas history. The website containing these
lesson plans is included as part of linked site noted at the top and
bottom of
this page. These particular lesson
plans, also generated as part of the Andrew Mobley project, can be
accessed directly by clicking here.
