Psychology
Club
The purpose of the Austin College Psychology Club is to provide an outlet for any person interested in psychology. It is a place to meet and discuss current issues of psychology and to learn about the field. It provides an opportunity for people to learn about psychology outside of the classroom through speakers and conferences. Membership is open to any interested student in the Austin College community.
Here at Austin College Psi Chi and Psychology Club work together to
promote the field of psychology among the student body. Psychology Club
is particularly suited for first and second year students who are interested
in learning more about and participating in the field of psychology. * New Professor in Psychology: The Psychology Department is pleased to announce the addition of Renee Countryman to AC starting the fall of 2008. Renee is a physiological psychologist who most recently taught at Illinois Wesleyan University. This fall she will be teaching General Psychology, Intro to Physiological Psychology and Research Methods. Her research interests are in memory and its applications to Alzheimer's disease. * Psychology Research “Brown Bag” lunches: For the last several years we have tried to have times when research students can get together with faculty and with one another to talk about the research process. Watch for emails and flyers announcing these events.
* Events on Campus: TENTATIVE: Tuesday, September 9, 2008, the Psychology Department will host an Open House from 11-12:30 at the WCC. This is a chance to meet the psychology faculty, hear about what courses they teach and get an overview of the research they will be conducting. This is a carry-your-tray event. Feel free to drop in at any time. TENTATIVE: Friday, September 19, 2008, Kevin Krug of LSU-Shreveport will come and talk about getting into graduate school in psychology.
