When to Study Abroad

As a rule, study abroad is a program for students in their junior or senior year.  A minimum of 17 credits is required to qualify.  There is no blanket minimum GPA, but most programs require a 3.0, while some accept a 2.7

Programs are available for the fall or spring semester or for the entire academic year.  We also have a long list of approved summer programs.

Students specializing in programs with highly sequential and prescriptive curricula such as pre-med or some science majors should consult with their mentors and program advisors about the best time to study abroad. Pre-med and science students can and do study abroad.  See the Study Abroad office for more information about this topic.
