The Avalon Project
at Yale Law School This resource provides primary
documents for an enormous variety of issues in modern European and
world history. The site is searchable. It is the place to
start, especially for official documents, treaties, and much
more.
The Online Library
of Liberty This is a super site with texts on
economics, political philosophy, and contemporary issues, all in
several forms. This is perhaps the most accessible etext site on
the web. Check it out for complete works of over four hundred
authors who have something to say about liberty, from the ancient world
to the present. The list of authors begins pretty much,
alphabetically, with Lord Acton, John Adams, Aeschylus... and goes on
from there.
Eurodocs: Primary Historical Documents from Western Europe A great site.
International Institute of Social History Much unusual and useful historical material.
School of Slavonic and East European Studies
Hanover European History Texts and Documents Very useful selection of texts and links.
Maps of Europe--UT-PCL Actual maps of actual places are to be found here; from the University of Texas.
Map History-History of Cartography A gateway to studies of early maps and cartography.
Encyclopedia of Revolutions of 1848. This very large on-line reference source is an excellent resource on many topics related to Europe in the middle of the nineteenth century. The editor, Professor James Chastain, has done an excellent job collecting these thoughtful and careful entries. Worth your perusal!
Steve Schoenherr's Homepage Professor Schoenherr has put together all kinds of materials on the international history of the late nineteenth and twentieth century, including American and European history. His site is especially rich in the history of World War I and World War II.

International Center for Scholars, this large and informative site
catalogs
new research materials in addition to housing articles, pertinent news,
and many other items. The site is fully searchable. It is a
real fund of primary documents, particularly from the Communist
world,
relating to the period 1945 to 1991.
Links Related to Recent Military History
An excellent way to explore World War II websites is to start
with the Open Directory Project
and search for World War or World War II. The resulting search
will give you well-chosen sites for most categories, although are not
filled out yet. It is a good way to start. Open Directory,
generically, is www.dmoz.org. The specific page for the World War

Scuttlebutt and Small Chow This outstanding and beautiful website by Bradley Omanson is devoted to the history of the United States Marine Corps, which has had much to do not only with American history but with European history and indeed world history in many contexts. The graphics are wonderful, the information is varied and interesting. One visit will probably only whet your appetite.
